The District Clay Center underwent a huge expansion in 2016, more than tripling its square footage and adding a slew of opportunities for expert artists and novices alike. It was this renovation that added the space necessary to open a ceramics gallery where artists from around the country and around DC display their artfully sculpted masterpieces.
If you're a newbie who would like to learn the basics of creating your own ceramics, sign up for a 10-week course at The District Clay Center. You'll learn how to use the potter's wheel and hand-build ceramics, then glaze and decorate your pieces using various professional techniques. The District Clay Center is also working on an after-school arts program that will reach out to underserved kids, so if you're interested in getting involved, check in at the studio to see how you can help.
